The powerful and disturbing story of an actress grappling with her past - and that of her mother -, crossing borders with/despite five dancers and an actor.
Alone in the middle of the desert, a woman crawls slowly. In her arms, we see a ball of fabric, a shapeless bundle to which she speaks aloud, seeking courage, a glimmer of hope. The arid ground burns her knees; the dry air is filled with hallucinations, with figures from the past who visit her and sometimes encourage her. Behind her, soldiers appear: they too crawl slowly, but they carry pieces of metal and wood in their hands. Suddenly, the woman's song rises, trying to drown out the sound of explosions, air raids, screams—to drown everything out. From the destroyed villages to the refugee camps, and beyond exile, the viewer tries to follow a mother and her daughter, and their impossible intimacy in a post-war world. Everyone is guilty in this complex and unsettling story where each character must confront memory and forgetting—History and their own personal history.
